Transflective Laptop

I'm looking for a laptop that could be used outdoors. Good battery life (4+ hours) or long battery life (6-10h) would be a plus. Preferably running OS X, adding a transflective screen after market to a MacBook would be an option.

Also known as:
  • transflective
  • transreflective
  • sunlight readable
  • indoor / outdoor display
  • Motion Computing: ViewAnywhere
  • Boe-Hydis: AFFS+ / Viewiz
  • General Dynamics Itronix: DynaVue
  • Dell: DirectVue

Transflective screen manufacturers

  • Hydis AFFS+ / Viewiz
    • HV133WX1 13.3" 1280x800; Not MacBook compatible: 297.1 X 192.2 x 5.5 vs. 301.4 × 196.5 × 6.5 for this Hydis screen
  • Pixel Qi, based on OLPC XO Laptop screen. Not in production until late 2009. First 10" netbook screens. Later (2010) laptops and low-power TVs.

Laptops with transflective screens

  • Toshiba Portégé R500-S5007V (all release models)
  • Toshiba Portégé R600 (all models)
  • Any Motion Computing Tablet PC with View Anywhere screen
  • Any Argonaut laptop with their "Tflex" screens
  • Any Itronix laptop with DynaVue
  • Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 (all models?)
  • OQO model 01
  • Lenovo X200 + Hydis HV121WX4-100 (added aftermarket)
  • Asus W5F (really?)
  • OLPC XO-laptop
  • Any Dell Latitude ATG (really transflective? not just very bright?)
  • Any Dell Latitude XFR with DirectVue screen
  • RuffPC RuffBook Tech/Max/Pro/Ultra/Commando have a "sunlight readable display" option. (transflective?)
  • Getac V100

Older laptops with transflective screens.

  • Fujitsu LifeBook Q2010

Laptops misreported as transflective

Sadly some reviewers mistake those new ultra glassy displays with the term "transflective".

  • MSI Wind U100-027EU/049EU/416EU
  • Sony VAIO VGN-SZ483N
  • Lenovo T400, though apparently sunlight readable @ max brightness: 8 hours battery life
